Following the February 6 earthquakes, Baykar provided a total of 5 billion Turkish Lira in aid to help meet the needs of earthquake survivors. As part of this relief initiative, 1,012 permanent housing units built in Adıyaman, Hatay, and Kahramanmaraş are being delivered to their rightful owners.
ISTANBUL – 6 FEBRUARY 2025
Baykar, the developer of Türkiye’s indigenous UCAVs, allocated 5 billion Turkish Lira (140 million USD) in aid and donations to support earthquake survivors as part of the relief initiative it launched in the wake of the February 6, 2023, Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes.
From day one, Baykar took an active role on the ground, focusing not only on urgent humanitarian assistance but also on long-term recovery solutions.
1,012 PERMANENT HOMES ACROSS THREE PROVINCES
Baykar has made significant contributions to address the housing and basic needs of earthquake survivors. To help meet their housing needs, the company constructed 1,012 permanent housing units in Adıyaman, Hatay, and Kahramanmaraş, allocating 3.4 billion Turkish Lira for the construction of 352 homes in Adıyaman, 352 in Hatay, and 308 in Kahramanmaraş.
Demonstrating an extraordinary commitment to completing the project as quickly as possible, Baykar began delivering homes to survivors in August 2024. The allocation of housing units is conducted through a lottery system overseen by relevant public authorities.
CASH AND IN-KIND DONATIONS
In addition to its housing project, Baykar donated 1.1 billion Turkish Lira in cash to support earthquake survivors under the coordination of Türkiye’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD). This donation helped address the urgent needs of the local population.
Furthermore, the company provided an in-kind contribution of 210 million Turkish Lira to meet the basic needs of survivors. As part of this effort, Baykar delivered critical supplies to the earthquake zone, including food and personal hygiene products, clothing, tents, electronic and medical equipment, and generators.
BAYKAR CONTAINER CITY
Responding immediately in the aftermath of the disaster, the Baykar team allocated 180 million Turkish Lira to construct 520 container homes in Kahramanmaraş, providing temporary shelter for approximately 2,000 survivors.
Baykar Container City was designed to meet urgent local needs quickly, featuring soup kitchens, classrooms, and essential facilities to support the displaced community.
HOT MEALS FOR 2.5 MILLION PEOPLE
By establishing four soup kitchens in Kahramanmaraş and Hatay, Baykar’s teams provided three hot meals per day to earthquake survivors. The company allocated 110 million Turkish Lira to its soup kitchens, ensuring that approximately 2.5 million people received essential nourishment.
VOLUNTEERS ON THE GROUND
Baykar’s staff members actively volunteered in the earthquake zone, offering direct support to survivors. More than 150 Baykar volunteers, organized into 18 teams, worked on the ground to assist those in need.
Additionally, Baykar’s employees and volunteers donated blood to the Turkish Red Crescent in the wake of the disaster to aid the recovery of wounded citizens.
Moreover, volunteers from the Turkish Technology Team (T3) Foundation and the Cansağlığı Foundation, where Baykar Chairman Selçuk Bayraktar serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees, also provided critical support to survivors in the field.
EDUCATION FOR 120,000 CHILDREN
To support the education of children affected by the earthquakes, the T3 Foundation established science and technology workshops in the region. Across 13 workshops in Adıyaman, Hatay, Gaziantep, and Malatya, 1,000 volunteer instructors provided science and technology training to more than 120,000 children.
PROVIDING PSYCHOSOCIAL SUPPORT TO SURVIVORS
Specialists and volunteers from the Cansağlığı Foundation took various steps to support the physical and mental well-being of earthquake survivors. In this sense, they provided physical rehabilitation services, developed psychosocial assistance programs, and offered one-on-one counseling to address survivors’ needs.
