Özdemir Bayraktar National Technology Center Art Installation

Located in front of the Özdemir Bayraktar National Technology Center’s R&D building, this original installation tells the story of Baykar.

To commission an artwork to be displayed on this spot, Baykar hosted an international architecture competition. A large number of Turkish and international architects and artists submitted their work.

Oleksandr Nikitenko, a Ukrainian participant, was declared as the winner of the “Art Installation Competition for the Özdemir Bayraktar National Technology Center” on July 23, 2022.

The original and unconventional design of this work by Nikitenko, an architect and artist, embodies our vision and symbolizes our path from humble beginnings to the present and the future.

The iconic tail of the Bayraktar TB2 unmanned combat aerial vehicle, which has been a game-changer and force multiplier in every battle it has fought, forms the basis of Nikitenko’s work.

This installation rests on three core pillars. First, the work’s original design was inspired by the Bayraktar drones and the hardship that Baykar endured to develop platforms that challenged war doctrine. Secondly, the installation reflects on Baykar’s success worldwide, representing Baykar as a reliable shield and a celestial sword in the fight against injustice. Finally, Nikitenko’s postmodern work highlights that Bayraktar drones, which Baykar developed in Türkiye and based on its original work, successfully accomplished various and challenging missions, including search-and-rescue, reconnaissance, and offensive operations.
